Corona del Mar High School

Sea Kings
Rule the Water

We're the CdM Surf Team โ€” student athletes from Corona del Mar High School competing in the Seaview Surfing League. Dawn patrol, dual meets, and heavy stoke since forever.

The Program

Surfing is a School Sport Here

At most schools, surfing is what you do instead of practice. At Corona del Mar High School, it is practice. Our team trains at Newport's breaks before the first bell โ€” and freshmen and sophomores earn PE credit for being on the team.

We compete in the Seaview Surfing League, going head-to-head in weekly dual meets against Los Alamitos, Wilson, Millikan, Mater Dei, and Orange Lutheran at breaks from Bolsa Chica to Newport, with league championships to cap the season.

We surf all year, not just contest season. You'll usually find us near Orange Street, Tower 71, or Blackies โ€” paddle out and say hi.

Tryouts & Membership

Join the Team

If you're a CdM student who can paddle out and hold your own, we want to see you surf. Here's what it takes.

๐Ÿ„

Be a CdM Student

Open to enrolled Corona del Mar High School students. You'll need solid ocean skills โ€” comfortable paddling out, handling your board, and surfing contest-size conditions safely.

๐ŸŽ“

Earn PE Credit

Freshmen and sophomores earn PE credit for being on the surf team. Knock out your PE requirement in the lineup instead of the gym.

๐Ÿ“š

Keep Your Grades Up

Surf team is a school sport โ€” stay academically eligible under CdM athletics policy and you stay eligible in the lineup.

๐Ÿ“‹

Paperwork & Tryouts

Clearance is an annual requirement for every CdM sport. Start at the school's athletic clearance page โ€” it has the instructions, online registration, and the physical exam form. Then come to fall tryouts.
